Südwind organized a workshop for Iranian HRDs with trainer lawyer Leila Ali-Karami from March 1 to March 2. The event provided the opportunity for Iranian activists to meet and exchange their experiences in promoting gender equality and women’s rights. In particular, the workshop focused on institutional requirements related to monitoring, protecting, and promoting women’s rights and gender equality. From March 8 and March 9 Dr. Hassan Makaremi (League for the Defence of the Human Rights for Iran) lectured on strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the conciliation of group interests and in consolidating participation and representation. Dr. Mahmoud Tadjallimehr, an experienced manager in the IT and telecommunications industries, held a workshop on March 15 on “mobile security” to deepen the understanding of various security and privacy issues on mobile phones.
